Why Choose St. Al’s?

Choosing a school for your child or children is a big decision. The right school can help children succeed not just academically, but emotionally, socially and spiritually as well.

We are committed to helping our children succeed in school—and in life. We do this through child-centered education, with small class sizes and individualized attention. We support our students in discovering their strengths, challenging their minds, igniting their spirits—and reaching their full potential.

In addition to strong academics, we offer up-to-date educational technology, music lessons, band, athletics, a variety of extracurricular activities, service opportunities, full-day kindergarten, preschool, after school care, tuition assistance, and busing for eligible families.

Here are just a few of the many things that make St. Al’s special:

Small Class Sizes. Big Expectations.

Students benefit from our small class sizes—with just 15-25 students per class. Small class sizes mean that each student is known and every family is valued.

All students are held to high academic and behavioral standards by staff members who believe all students can achieve. We have big expectations for every student.

We believe excellence is best achieved through the partnership of school staff, parents and students.

St. Al’s is a safe place for our children to learn. Our loving environment provides a space for them to explore and expand their learning potential.

We recognize the developmental uniqueness of each and every child and we believe everyone belongs. We embrace our differences and work hard to build a community.

Our school is a ministry of our parish, which provides many opportunities for our students to celebrate our faith including weekly student-led Masses, adoration and prayer services.

St. Al’s is a home away from home, where students learn how to learn, where they master the fundamentals, explore their interests and are formed in the faith. This whole-child approach prepares them for success in school—and in life.

Peace of Mind Student Mental Health Resources

St. Al’s is proud to be a part of the Peace of Mind Partner School Initiative. Peace of Mind offers an on-site school counselor on certain days. In addition, we have a Peace of Mind team on our staff who are specially trained to help address students’ mental health needs and Phoenix School Counseling provides 1:1 consultations for school faculty and staff. Families also have resources available to them through Peace of Mind, including webinars and books from the school library to read with their children to help children and parents find healthy ways of dealing with anxiety and stress.

Even before the pandemic, anxiety was a growing concern among students in all schools—and as families know all too well, the experiences of the past few years have increased anxiety and stress among children and adults in many ways. Peace of Mind resources are assisting St. Al’s in helping students and families deal with mental health concerns and promote healthy social and emotional learning.
